says:(I apologize if this post is a repeat. I clicked on “post comment”, but my post isn’t showing, so I’m here attempting again).
I did not find my Tribe on your list. They still exist. I just cannot find an address for them. Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of America. I am a descendent of the Taíno Tribe. My grandmother, who died when my mother was a mere 10 years old was Taíno. My mom was raised by her father whom did not follow a Taíno lifestyle, neither did their other family after my grandmother passed away. No one in either side of the family will give me any information regarding our Tribe and who is still in the Tribe. How can I find information on my family Tribe without info from my family. I’m on my own on this one. My mother is 80 years old now and has dementia, so she cannot remember specifics from her deceased mother and father. She cannot remember their dates of birth nor death. So I’m really at a standstill. I have been trying with ancestry.com since 2016, and still at zero info. I get hints, but the hints do not apply to my family’s Tribe. I took the ancestry.com DNA test last week and mailed it. I don’t know how quick or slow they work to get DNA results to their clients. In the meantime, can anyone give me any tips, advice, anything on how to proceed and where to go being that I do not have the support of my family? Anything will be appreciated. Also, since I’m one to think of every possible scenario on earth, if by any chance the Tribe folded and theirs no one left in the family who is an active Tribe member, being that I’m a direct descendant of my grandmother, would I be able to claim my family’s Tribe and continue where the last family member took off? Would I be able to re-establish my family’s Tribe again if that were the case? If so, how? How does one direct descendent re-establish a debunked Tribe? What’s the process and how do I go about re-establishing our Tribe? Again, I think of every scenario. I’d like to think that they do still exist as my older sister suspects from overhearing other family members conversations. They won’t give us info, but my sister on occasion has overheard conversations, just not enough to give me something to go one. I hope someone here can help me. Thank you for your time. God bless you all.

says:I would like to find out more about my great grandmother’s tribal side. She is from Kickapoo tribe from Eagle Pass, Texas/Coahuila,Mexico. I don’t know and would like to know what percentage I am.
I did the DNA test from the Ancestry.Com and I received that I am 38% Native American. I have some questions that i hope yous can help me. My mother denies about who she is ….but I want to be who I am and I want to be recognize as one. Please help me and my family.

says:I’m trying to find out where my family originates from. My family thinks I crazy but I want to know if I am native American. I’ve been able to go as far as my great grand father(1860’s) on my moms side but at those times not to much was recorded. Please help guide me

says:I want to find out what tribe I am from and clan. My 5th great grandmother was full blooded Cherokee. I realize this is far back but this would mean the world to me to know this. Where to go from here. Thanks so much.

says:I know I am of part european and native american indian decent. But several of my family members have tried an ancestory search. With surnames like Smith and Jones on my mom’s side, which comes the native american, they couldn’t get far. All i know is that my maternal grandparents have history in Kentucky, Ohio, maybe Illinois. I just have this longing to know my “people” i don’t feel complete. I am so proud to be connected to the Original Americans! I just want to proudly honor my Tribe(s).
I feel there are no options. I am still Proud to claim my Native American Heritage.
I would love to talk with someone that feels the connection with earth. dirt, the smell, the feel, the coolness and the warmth. the way the leaves glimmer in the afternoon sun. The waves created by the breeze in the tall grass. The shadows that contrast with the sunlight so dramatically, it makes you sigh. At least it does me.

Ann Franklin
says:Family history states my 3rd great-grandmother was full-blood Cherokee, born about 1795-97, far northwest North Carolina which became far eastern Tennessee – Washington County. Her English name was Matilda McCollam/McCollum/McCollam.
Sometime during 1814 she married a White man Samuel Stanborough aka Stansberry in Washington CO, Tennessee and their issued 16 known children. Their marriage bond record shows people named McNees as witnesses and bonds person.
Whether or not Matilda was married prior to Samuel is unknown, although some claim she may have been married to a Scottish trapper named McCollam – no proof has been found or presented.
There are absolutely no records for Matilda McCollam to be found in eastern Tennessee or far northwest North Carolina. There is a Matilda Kuyendall or Kuyendahl who was married to the Scottish trapper McCollam aforementioned.
Is it possible to locate records for Matilda, or will I forever be wondering if she was or wasn’t full-blood Cherokee?
Any help would be appreciated, and thank you.

Lisa Snow Vitali
says:Hi,
I am looking for information regarding my Mothers birth mother. Her whole life she has thought that her birth mom was a Native American woman whose name was Jayne Cochco she always said cocoa. She said her father Ralph Teel had a relationship with this girl and my mom was the result. She stayed on my grandparents farm in Pennsylvania for a while helping to raise my mom and she said she was named Jayne after her birth mother. My grandmother raised my mom along with her other children, my mom does not look like the rest of the family except for my grandfathers genes and none of us kids look at all like our cousins. If you can give me any direction I would greatly appreciate it. My mom passed away a few years ago long before her time and I would like to find the truth.
Thank you,
Lisa

says:Hi – I don’t see any tribes from the State of Virginia. My family is of the Chickahominy Tribe. We were neighbors of the Powhatan Tribe. The Native Americans who first encountered John Smith.b “The Chickahominy (“The Coarse Ground Corn People”[3]) were an autonomous Algonquian-speaking tribe when the first permanent English settlement was founded at Jamestown in 1607. They were led by mungai (“great men”), who were part of a council of elders and religious leaders. The Chickahominy’s original territory consisted of the land along the river that was eventually named after them, the Chickahominy River, from the mouth of the river near Jamestown to what is now New Kent County.” And why aren’t we recognized by the federal government?

says:I had almost forgotten about my family history until I came across this site. I am now 60 and I will tell you what my mother ( Rosemary Virginia Clapp-Schlicher-Estes ) told me when I was young. Her father Harold Clapp was an Indian Chief and his costume was given to the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury Ct. from there it went to the Smithsonian Institute. They lived in Waterbury Ct. and when Rosemary got married to Roy Schlicher her family moved to California.I heard her say the tribe once but I was young but think it started with a P. Since I don’t have a time frame for any of this I have had a great deal of difficulty finding much about the history. I would love to give my sons and grandchildren this information.I know it is a lot to ask but if someone could please help me I would be so grateful.

live in northern La.around Alexandria. My mother provided information about how we were descendents from the Powhatan tribe. I couldn’t figure that out since they are a Northern tribe. My mother’s family also had more Irish, Scottish, and French. What I’m interested in is finding out what Indian heritage my father’s side has. I was told it began with a C and can’t remember the rest. His family were country and lived in Montpilier. I was born in Amite, La. Is there any tribes indigenous to that region?

says:“We need independency in order to becmoe great.”The United States of America continues to be the most prosperous of all nations on the earth, with a production output that floors all others, even despite the horrendous economic travesty that President Obama is perpetrating on us (though he may yet succeed). It is incredibly naive to compare the prosperity of the citizens of the USA to the likes of China, Brazil, Egypt, and the Arab Nations, which have significant portions of their populations living in almost medieval conditions such an assertion is positively surreal. The poorest of Americans and First Americans live as kings compared to many in those countries. Even compared to Japan and Israel, who in this country would truly want to trade his standard of living for theirs? To becmoe great the First Nations need to exercise the independence and freedom they already have, stop offering themselves up into slavery by bowing down at the altars of socialism and kissing the feet of the high priests of entitlement Obama, Kennedy, et al selling their once free souls into slavery. The First Nations were endowed by the Creator with the rights of Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. The Constitution of the United States of America guarantees those rights to its citizens, even its First Citizens. But they have to exercise those rights to enjoy them. Unfortunately too many of them already have relinquished their spirits into slavery.Awake! Rise up from the dust! Stand as Men! Cast off the shackles of sin and dependence! Your greatness lies within you as children of the Creator Himself. If you think your greatness lies with Obama, then you are destined to remain in slavery. But that is not your destiny. You will yet blossom as a rose and becmoe a scourge to tyrants and petty tyrants who seek to sap away your liberty with the soma of socialism and godlessness.

says:I’m from a culture that doesn’t know what the hell it’s doing. Seeing this video, I’m moved by the pasosin filled faces. We fight with ourselves over budgets and irrelevant politics. Meanwhile, we are making the planet uninhabitable, allowing starvation, poverty. Soon, we’ll cause the oceans to rise and millions to migrate or die, THEN we’ll decide to do something about it. I believe that aboriginal peoples have some wisdom on the environment. We don’t deserve it, but I hope you’ll forgive us.

dana rene hoecker
says:greetings to all my fellow native brothers and sisters.
i am dana rene hoecker, i am come to the Hopi people and I am the one they waited for. the true pahana.
i read the stone prophesy correctly and have returned many items to the hopi’s.the final item is being worked on now.
i returned a meteorite with their art in it.its me they waited for.the one who seeked out the creator and who was taken up by same.my revelations are that of the Hopi Parrott Katchina.i have been chosen to speak for the people as tribal council refuses the task at hand. my mission is to free the natives and return all stolen artifacts .
my main task is to stop the rape and the lies.my tenet is unbending, unswayable, untouchable. i carry the truth and it is to be common knowledge.i am in the position to call a meeting to discuss your release and after we shall reestablish the laws to live by.old oriabi the first two weeks of jan is most preferred as the spirits grant wishes in these weeks.i have every stitch of truth in my knowledge.not one thread excapes my visions.it is upon you right now and here.your release is eminent. i fired the parole board and replaced it with the truth. i stand as your lawyer in this court of corruption. now is the time you waited for. come help me rebuild your greatest city.freedom.with a vision from beyond, here I AM.
Pusasa
says:you have to find out where down the line you have purebred anctreoss.then you divide it up.take me for example.i have native american in me.my great great great grandmother was 100%.so that means my great great grandmother was 50%.my great grandmother was 25%.my grandmother was 12.5%.my dad is 6%.and that makes me 3%.just divide everything and you will have an answer.
Haskell grad.
says:your comment was a real head banger; a mind tripper. CDIB was designed to divide and conquer tribes. a way and means of the government to try and do away with the Indian status and treaty obligations. Its only an attempt to try and downsize the amounts of congressional spending appropriations given to tribes in health, education and for other federally run tribal programs. You got to be quarter plus to get help and even than the tribe who contracts can only help so few members because when they choose to contract and run the programs under self determination act this takes a big chunk of the pie right off the top, admin. salaries, before the people even get the service.
Delores
says:thank you Pusasa I am also 3% Blackfoot and continue to learn more about my grandparents who seem to know much about healing and native medicines. My great grandmother Millie Massey was 1/2 Blackfoot but not much is known but my respect pushes to know more. Keep sharing.
