The Gathering of Nations Powwow is a beautiful connection between cultures, experiences, and memories. The Gathering has the ability to place you at the moment or bring back memories. When the move was made from UNM Arena “The Pit”, an all-new vision of launching and sustaining a greater native style experience was put into action. In this new and unique setting, the vision of the Gathering has grown exponentially.
The Gathering of Nations is an iconic Native American experience that embodies creativity and passion and has the ability to bring people together year after year. It’s here—the weekend of music, dance, and magic in Albuquerque New Mexico. Whether you’re a Gathering veteran or visiting this festival for the first time, this year is going to be another great year for all who attend. On April 26, 27 and 28 you will be entertained and enlightened, starting on Thursday evening with Miss Indian World Traditional Talent Presentations, at the Albuquerque Convention Center’s Kiva Auditorium.
The powwow begins on Friday, April 27 at Tingley Coliseum; the sights and sounds will dazzle you as more than 3,000 dancers and over 30 drum groups perform. Visit Stage 49 to catch 40-plus contemporary musical groups in a variety of genres and artistic performances.
Gates open each day at 10:00 a.m. and the Grand Entry of Dancers inside Tingley Coliseum are Friday, Noon and 7:00 p.m. And Saturday at Noon And 6:00 p.m.
Tickets are available at the event. General parking is at Gates 7, 8 and the south lots off Louisiana and Central Avenues.
The Traders Market will fill your days with loads of shopping for one-of-a-kind handmade items that you can only find at North America’s biggest powwow. A shopper’s dream!
New this Year is the Traditional Horse and Rider Parade. The Parade will take place each afternoon on Main street. The riders and the horses will be adorned in interesting and colorful traditional outfits.
The official souvenir Gathering of Nations Magazine 2018 is available at the event. The sale of the program Magazine serves as a fund raiser, in part, for the Albuquerque High School Jr. ROTC Program. The magazine features special interest articles, educational information, personal stories and photos.
This annual publication demonstrates a commitment by the Gathering of Nations organization to making a difference in our community and throughout Indian Country. The Gathering of Nations provides financial opportunities to a wide range of people and businesses in Albuquerque and beyond.
The Gathering of Nations Pow Wow is a rain or shine event. Everyone is welcome to attend. Enjoy this weekend’s celebration, at North Americas Biggest Powwow.

says:A suggestion. Could the committee do something about all the blankets covering the chairs? Embarrased for the GON, when all the ppl that come to this event CAN’T find a seat with no blanket draped over them. And no one sits in those seats all evening. A lot of ppl don’t care to go back to GON. They pay all this $$ and just a big disappointment to them.
Kudos to Denver March committee. The last time I’ve been to the Denver March powwow, they had securities going around getting all the blankets off the chairs. There was a table with blankets stacked on it. The announcer kept repeating to quit covering the seats. Just saying.
