If there's one thing that makes me feel right at home at powwows, its when I see sleeping kids under the table of a vendor. I remember taking my naps as a kid under my mom's art table when she would showcase her artwork to sell, so when I came up to R&B Trading and saw this family business with tired kiddos napping under tables I felt right at home.
R&B Trading has only been around for 5 years, and this is their first year at Gathering of Nations. They brought 20k worth of inventory and told me that they are shocked at how well they have done here at Gathering. 60% of what is in their shop is made by them, including hand drums, beadwork, and other regalia. Just as we spoke, a man came asking about a custom roach that hung on the pole, I was told R&B sold all three of their others and that was their last one.
What started as walking around selling earrings, soon became a small table of goods to sell, and grew to become what it is today. A busy trading table with product moving quickly. R&B barely had a moment to speak because of how much interest they were generating.
If you get a chance, check their table out! They attend powwows all over.
