“This weekend was really not like anything I’ve ever done or ever felt before,” she said after her last race.

“It’s the first time I ran for anyone other than myself. … This is the first time I’ve ever made a scene and not been apologetic.” -Rosalie Fish

Rosalie ran with red paint handprint across her face and MMIW written on her body to bring attention to the epidemic during a State match at Eastern Washington University.

“As a Native runner, it goes without saying you run for Native people,” Fish said. “You have to realize you represent Indian Country.” -Rosalie Fish

    Rosalie,
Thank you for being who you are, so young but out there making a stand. I watched the race, that was AWESOME! I am so proud of you. May the higher power keep you in his hands forever. Keep your chin up and your shoulders back. You are one strong Native girl.
