Artist Steven Grounds – Native Evolution

We love it when our readers share with us unique talent in the community. A reader suggested we check out Native Evolution and we had to share with you!

Steven Grounds, from the Navajo and Euchee tribes, was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma, in 1977. He has a life-long passion with art. After graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree in American Indian Studies from Haskell Indian Nations University in 2004, he began to focus his artistic vision under the moniker Native Evolution. It is a study in portraiture of modern Native American people along with the concepts revolving around urban styles and computer graphics.

Grounded and firmly embraced in his Native American culture, Steven’s vision is to preserve the blessings of his tribal heritage through sharing the images of old and new from deep within. Steven honors, promotes, blends and transitions our older images with his modern, clean and urban-inspired visions.

We found a video online in which he shows off his skills, sketching Sitting Bull in 4 minutes.

Steven also has a storefront on his website where you can purchase t-shirts with his unique designs.
