Native musicians in New Mexico come together to create a song inspired by the Standing Rock / Water Is Life movement. Innastate, Native Roots, Joy Harjo and Def-I recently recorded a song at Frogville Studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico which talks about the events that have been unfolding in North Dakota.
“When Musician's get together and they start talking about an issue, our first instinct is to write a song about it. We felt it was important to contribute and share our talents to show solidarity with Standing Rock. For everything in this world, water is life.”

I took a trip up to Standing Rock
I tell you it was a big shock
To find my people in distress
Oh my gosh what a mess
Police in full riot gear
The Natives have no fear
Unite the people far and near
The Natives got to rise up rise up
If you want to see the full lyrics, head on over to the bandcamp page where you can also buy the song! Proceeds from this song will be donated to the Sacred Stone Legal Defense Fund which supports the legal defense of warriors protecting land, water, and human rights.
