Fatal Shooting At Oglala Lakota Nation Pow Wow

A fatal shooting occurred at the 2024 Oglala Lakota Nation Pow Wow on August 2, 2024.

Please pray for the victim and everyone at the Pow Wow.

From OST DPS Highway Safety 

There was an altercation between several males at the Powwow in Pine Ridge. During this altercation, a 57-year-old male was shot several times. Suspect fled the scene on foot.

Victim was transported to the Pine Ridge Emergency Room. And later transported by life flight to monument in Rapid City.

Suspect was located in a vehicle trying to leave the powwow grounds and taken into custody.

The Pow Wow continued on Saturday and Sunday with extra security.

    I’m so sorry to hear about the shooting. I hope everyone is ok. I will pray for the victims and their families. I also have a question. There is a new movie by Kevin Costner called Horizon. Does it depict Native Americans accurately or is it typical Hollywood junk?

    Sad to hear of the shooting. Don’t these men realize that they’re never gonna be treated equally if they continue to behave badly fighting is never way to settle a Difference.
