Latino-Native American performer Eric Hernandez has joined the Cirque du Soleil cast as a Hoop Dancer.
Eric has been hoop dancing since he was 10 thanks to his uncle Terry Goedel, a world champion hoop dancer. Eric never imagined he’d being hoop dancing for a living, but one look at his performance and you can see why Cirque du Soleil came calling.

I saw the opening night in London at the Royal Albert Hall a few years back. The show is amazing…. and it was so nice to see proper Native trad. dancing over in Europe! 🙂 Can’t wait for it to come to Denver so I can see it again!

I have many friends in Cirque, and an uncle in 70s who still flies and teaches the trapeze. This was beautiful story. beautiful man, and beautiful traditional dancing!

I’m also am Native American and enjoy seeing our heritage out there for all to see. It is beautiful, but I’ve never seen hoop dancing. Would love a chance to see it. Hopefully Eric will come to Charlotte NC.

There are powwow’s near you and there should be a hoop dancer that travails that circuit. If not Virginia has a few that travail threw. You should come and see. This is by you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkP3AbZUQUM

HEY Eric, I had heard that you were recruited by Cirque du Soleil. Congratulations! I cannot imagine working with a more creative, talented & electric group of people. I hope you are enjoying the experience. I have seen 2 of the shows, one early on in Santa Monica and one a few years ago at the Forum. I would love to see “Totem” too. Do you get any break on ticket prices (it’s out of our price range). Anyway, have fun!
