Its that time of year again to when people from all over the world come in for the biggest powwow in North America – Gathering of Nations Powwow 2015 !! While meeting people in line, I met Europeans these who flew in from Sweden & England for this weekends festivities!
Before we headed over to the ticket line to pick up our credentials, we stopped by the official GON merchandise booth! This beauty caught out our eye and the people in the booth said they only ordered 70 of these jackets for the powwow. I bet you guys anything that these jackets get snatched even before Grand Entry starts tomorrow!
Only at a powwow like this is where can you meet Natives from all over the country! This afternoon I met Indigenous people from Alaska, Canada, Oklahoma, Mississippi, California, North Dakota and everywhere else!
The place to be tonight is the Kiva Auditorium in downtown Albuquerque for the talent portion of the Miss Indian World 2015 contest! We got our tickets and we're ready to go! Out of all the Indian Princesses in attendance, be sure to look out for Miss Stage 49, trust me, you're not going to miss her!
There are over 400 Vendors in the Indian Traders Tent this year! This is one of my favorite photos from this morning, I love how Grandma is kicking back in her chair while watching all of her kids do the work, thats rights Grandma, crack that whip!
Everyone who is attending GON and will be buying tickets at the ticket booths, you have to look for this lady! Her name is Jessica and shes working security at the ticket booths! She's one of the best personalities I've met from this powwow this year so far! When I asked her what tribe she is she said, “I'm White & Italian from Santa Barbara, California” . Okay girl, if you say so. And when I said to her, “see you later” , in Navajo she replied back, “okay” . Haha!! (busted) She's a people person and really friendly, say hi when you see her!
We worked up a big appetite from running around this morning and settled for Blakes on Carlisle! Blakes had a food booth last year and are expected to have big lines again this year. I recommend the cheeseburger with green chile and the frito chile pie!!
