Phoenix, AZ (July 06, 2017) – For the second year in a row, Acoma Pueblo designer, Loren Aragon will represent Native American fashion in contention for Designer of the Year in the 2017 Phoenix Fashion Week Designer Bootcamp. Aragon, makes his return after a successful debut on the most anticipated fashion event in the southwest this past October. Aragon continues to push Native fashion forward with designs that have seized the attention of a greater audience. As a growing leader in fashion in the Native American community, ACONAV proves to be among the best and is expected to bring another “Wow” factor to the Phoenix stage this fall.
Native fashion continues to gain recognition and exposure across the nation with a high concentration of designers in the southwest states. Aragon’s brand finished just shy of being named 2016 Designer of the Year, but gave exposure to Native fashion in a greater realm of the fashion industry. “To be recognized again by this acclaimed organization is an honor and means that they believe in my brand!” Exclaims Loren. “It is a much-anticipated return for two reasons, a chance to go after the Designer of the Year title again, but most importantly it’s another year of representing Native Fashion on a grand runway in the southwest.” Adds Aragon. ACONAV was recently announced as a contending brand among 15 global designers by Phoenix Fashion Week at its annual Launch Party. “We searched far and wide for a diverse and unique line-up of brands this year. With our team focused on the business side of these talented brands, Phoenix Fashion Week is proud to have ACONAV in our ‘Bootcamp’ competing for Designer of the Year,” said Brian Hill, Executive Director, Phoenix Fashion Week.
Aragon’s brand began as a greeting card company in 2008. The name ACONAV is a representation of the respective cultures of Loren and his wife Valentina. Loren of the Acoma Pueblo and Valentina of the Navajo (Diné). Aragon ventured into the fine arts then later into jewelry making and eventually into fashion design. Today, ACONAV continues to captivate runway viewers with unique and recognizable pottery motifs authentically inspired by the Acoma Pueblo art culture. The pottery prints are a signature to Loren’s fashion designs and are all original graphic designs.
ACONAV’s culturally fueled style will be presented at the official Phoenix Fashion Week on October 4th – 7th, 2017 at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, AZ. For more about ACONAV visit www.aconav.com. Find them on Facebook (ACONAV), Twitter @aconav_fashion and on Instagram @aconav.
