Ashton Locklear is an alternate on the United States Gymnastics team. The Lumbee gymnast did not compete at the Olympic games but has had an incredible journey to Rio.
The two alternates continued to work out in Rio until the team finals. They were not allowed to train with the rest of the team, however. They trained instead in the same gym with the US basketball team.
