18 Years Later – Wyoming Teacher Makes Good on His Disneyland Promise

18 Years Later – Wyoming Teacher Makes Good on His Disneyland Promise

I thought this was a great story even before I clicked on the link. Then I saw the name and thought, wow that guy sounds familiar! Sure enough, George Abeyta, Wyoming school teacher, is also a fancy dancer and pow wow coordinator for Eastern Shoshone Days.

Mr. Abeyta has been a teacher for over 20 years now, and back in 1999, he wanted to try a creative way to get more kids to graduate. During that year's 8th grade graduation ceremony at Fort Washakie, he promised 35 students an all expenses paid trip to Disneyland. But under one condition, that they graduate from a 4 year college.

Read a little bit more about the story from George Abeyta's Facebook post:

CNN's Headline News had a great little clip on their website about the story too!

Wow, you guys are both an inspiration to all of us. Keep on studying kids! Hard work and determination does indeed pay off!
