PowWows.com turns 30 this year!
When I started this site, it was never meant to be what it is today.
It began as a way for me to learn and play with HTML while I was in college. I never imagined anyone else would read it. It wasn’t a business plan or a big idea, just something to work on between classes.
But then you showed up.
And then more people showed up. Conversations started. The community grew. What began as a small personal project slowly turned into something much bigger than I ever expected.
Because of that, I knew I didn’t want this anniversary to be just a logo or a single post.
I’m working on our biggest celebration ever.
This summer, June, July, and August, we’ll be celebrating 30 years of PowWows.com in a big way.
One of the main goals of this celebration is to highlight 30 Native American companies and brands for our 30th year. Native-owned businesses, creators, and brands are such an important part of our community, and this felt like the right way to mark the milestone.
Over the next several months, I’ll be sharing more about how this celebration is coming together. I’ll be posting updates as we connect with Native brands, line things up, and build toward the full celebration this summer. If you enjoy following the behind-the-scenes side of PowWows.com, this is going to be a fun one to watch unfold.
There will also be a big giveaway tied into the celebration. I’ll share full details as we get closer, but this will be our biggest anniversary giveaway to date.
When June arrives, this page will become the home for the full celebration, including the contest details, featured brands, and everything else happening throughout the summer.
More than anything, I want to say thank you.
PowWows.com wouldn’t be here without the people who read the articles, watch the livestreams, share links, reply to emails, and show up year after year. The community is the reason this site has lasted three decades, and I’m incredibly grateful that you’re part of it.
