  1. Linda Day says:

I would like information on getting in touch with Cherokee tribe in North Carolina, or if there is a group in SC. I was raised in a remote area, but my grandfather taught basic Cherokee skills, such as how to walk through the woods silently, and how to hide. I learned how to handle snakes and to identify other snakes that are safe. He told me that we were Cherokee, but my mother was not. We never got to meet the closest tribe. When I was i college I was close by and would visit; but never during Pow Wow. That was before 1983. When I finished school we moved to SC for my job. I never had the opportunity to be part of a tribe or be part of the groups as we were still trying to hide in case the government found us and made us move. The closest tribe is now trying to revive the Cherokee language for the eastern band.
