Over the past few days I've noticed some videos being shared of folks talking in their native tongues. Welcome to the next fun viral challenge, the 2014 Indigenous Language Challenge! There's even a Facebook group you can join and share your videos. You might even learn a word or two in another language!
Here's a great one I found from Jackelyn Seitcher speaking Nuu-chah-nulth:
The News from Native California blog also has a round-up of other videos.

My grandmother came from Quebec through Wisconsin to Seattle and she and her sister always said we had Native American in our genealogy. My daughter and I have recently found info that that is true and I am so happy and blessed to know this.
I’m horrible at learning other languages. I’ve taken several classes to try and learn Spanish, yet it just seems to escape me. My grandfather Esquipula Benabides was Southern Paiute, tho I never heard him speak a work of his native tongue, it would have been nice to have learned it as a child.
I would love to learn the Native Cherokee language. Where can I find out more information ??
log onto cherokee.org – this takes you to their home page and scroll down to the online language portion and read more- it will take you into the menu for viewing archives of old classes and when classes are registering (twice a yr) you can sign up for free for the classes and Mr Fields is an excellent instructor- he makes learning our native language fun & easy-
