Tribal Public Health Conference 2021 Will Be Held Virtually

Posted By Jared McKiernan March 10th, 2021 Last Updated on: March 10th, 2021

The Tribal Public Health Conference will be held virtually for the first time on April 20–22, 2021.

Hosted by Southern Plains Tribal Health Board (SPTHB) and Preparing For The 7th Generation, the event will feature over sixty presenters, six keynotes—including Abigail Echo-Hawk—six panels, and over 40 sessions. The event will also feature an Indigenous Chef series with live cooking demonstrations by Mariah Gladstone of IndigiKitchen and others.

Each day will be capped off by the Cultural Event Series featuring Indigenous youth performers, comedians Will Buck and JR Ross, and the 7th Generation Awards.

All breakout sessions and meetings will be accessed through the Whova app.

This year’s conference theme, “Resilience: Looking Towards the Future of Indigenous PublicHealth,” focuses on bringing Indigenous youth and Indigenous youth-centric organizations together.

“It’s important to continue to meet and bring inspired people together in forums like this to ensure Tribal Public Health continues to include Indigenous voices of all ages,” said Nicolas Barton, SPTHB Executive Director. “This year will provide the opportunity to engage with Indigenous communities both nationally and internationally.”

Shiela Williams, Conference Co-Chair, added, “We’re honoring and celebrating resilience in our communities—uplifting one another through unprecedented times. Since last year’s event cancellation in 2020, our planning committee has been working hard to deliver an edu-tainment packed event for all attendees. I really believe that all of our attendees joining us from near and far will leave our virtual conference event feeling more inspired and energized.”
