Indigenous Peoples’ Day. This face paint we are wearing is in acknowledgement of MMIWG as the final report came out two weeks ago. The National Inquiry’s Final Report reveals that persistent and deliberate human and Indigenous rights violations and abuses are the root cause behind Canada’s staggering rates of violence against Indigenous women, girls and lgbtq+ people. It is known that indigenous women are 3.5 times more likely to experience violence in their lifetime than non-indigenous women. While indigenous people only make up 5% of Canada’s population, we make up 25% of its homicide victims. To quote the Chief Commissioner Marion Buller “The truth is that we live in a country whose laws and institutions perpetuate violations of basic human and Indigenous rights. These violations amount to nothing less than the deliberate, often covert campaign of genocide against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people. This is not what Canada is supposed to be about; it is not what it purports to stand for.” No more stolen sisters. 🇨🇦 #indigenouspeoplesday #MMIWG #reclaimyourpower #cheekbonebeauty #defendthesacred

Please explore and promote the revival of Woodland Dance in those regions where Northern Traditional have been the assumed Mens style. Primarily in the Great Lakes communities. Perhaps an investigative look into how this evolution began in the 1960’s. Woodland style needs to come home!
