There is no slowing down for Apsaalooke fancy dancer Supaman who has blessed the world with his viral videos and humble spirit. His video for “Why”, which featured champion jingle dress dancer Acosia Red Elk, has received over 2 million views on Facebook alone and has been shared by everyone from Snoop Dogg to even your grandma (if she's on Facebook). His new video titled “Somewhere” is following in those same footsteps at a half a million views since it's release just a few weeks ago.
We figured now would be a great time to hit up Supaman and ask him a few questions on where he's headed.
What kind of opportunities have unfolded since the success of your videos?
It's been a nothing but blessings. I've been able to tour around the country performing and speaking. But I think the best part is when you get those random emails or inboxes saying “Hey brother, I just want to thank you for making that song, I was about to kill myself today and somebody shared your video on my page. It really spoke to me and gave me peace and hope. I've chosen to face this life and live another day! I wanted to thank you for saving my life.” Hearing those things gives me purpose as to why the Creator has allowed me to have a platform. I think those creating music should all be mindful of the responsibility and influence we possess as artists, because it is powerful.
Rumor has it that the hit Broadway play “Hamilton” asked you to submit and audition for the play in New York City. Is this true?
Yes! They contacted me and asked me to submit an audition tape. That is a huge opportunity, it's Broadway! lol! I have yet to submit.
What's next for Supaman? Do you have any upcoming tours scheduled? An album coming out soon?
Yes, I'm excited to be traveling through the spring on the “Good Medicine Tour” and I'll be posting the dates soon on my Facebook page. Me and Acosia Red Elk were also invited to perform in Seattle when Shoni and The Atlanta Dream come to town, so that will be something special because we have not performed the song “Why” live yet. I'm also almost finished with the new project titled “Illuminatives” coming out this year, so stay tuned for that.
Sounds great! Thank you!
A’ho!
And in case you haven't seen the latest video for “Somewhere” check it out below! You won't be disappointed!
Success is not how much love you can get from the world, but how much love you can give to it. So don't wait for good…
