Just had to say congratulations to one of our PowWows.com contributors, Tara Rose Weston! She recently entered the Pine Ridge Youth Documentary Competition and her short film “The Things I'm Afraid To Tell You” won First Place! The competition was open to Lakota youth living on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and encouraged them to share their stories through documentary filmmaking.

Not only do the winners of the competition get new GoPro cameras, the top 3 filmmakers are able to screen their movies with a live audience at the 2015 South Dakota Film Festival!

All the award winning films will be available to view on the South Dakota Film Festival website soon. Be sure to be on the lookout!

The South Dakota Film Festival takes place September 30th through October 4th in Aberdeen, South Dakota. For more information please visit http://southdakotafilmfest.org/
