Make ‘Em Dance: A review of MINA PEYAK

Posted By PowWows.com January 7th, 2014 Last Updated on: January 7th, 2014

Mina Peyak's self-titled 2013 release is a delightful reminder of the true purpose of Powwow music: to inspire everyone to dance.  Mina Peyak is from Duck Lake, Saskatchewan. The album was recorded in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan.

A lively CD from PDub Productions, Mina Peyak represents an energetic and danceable collection of songs.  Several tunes on the CD earn particular notice.  “Jedi Mind Trick” is an upbeat celebration of fast and furious dancing, cleverly named to integrate popular culture.  A charming track, “Happy Feet” will please Crow Hop fans and quickly became my personal favorite.  “The Finisher” calls to mind the uplifting qualities found in the best contest dancing, while “The People's Dance” reminds listeners that Powwows embrace all who want to dance in a good way.

Mina Peyak  represents a festive and joyous songfest.  Northern drum style fans will be pleased, while all Powwow enthusiasts will find songs to their liking on this CD.  Mina Peyak is dedicated to inspiring the People to get up and dance and this CD reflects their motivating spirit.
