Fresh off his recent “Best Hip Hop” win at The Indian Summer Music Awards, South Dakota Hip Hop Pioneer, Night Shield, returns to iPod's and CD Decks everywhere with his 6th and final solo release, “The Addiction”.” The Addiction” is the 3rd and final entry in the
“Sex, Drunks & Hip Hop” trilogy that began in 2009. Featuring 18 brand new tracks that combine Night Shield's signature sense of humor and mainstream appeal, “The Addiction” promises to be the artist's most ambitious project to date. The album features the singles, “Dream Girl” & “Pieces Of Me”. “Dream Girl” was previously released as a music video, and features Kilo Trackz, while “Pieces Of Me” is Night Shield at his most vulnerable and features the vocal styles of Ashlee Faye, while Aaron Keller & Mike Dresch set the mood on guitar.
The 2 time Native American Music Award winner had this to say about the song, “I wanted to show a balance in the lifestyle, while most of the album deals with the fun side of living life in the fast lane, “Pieces Of Me” shows the repercussions, in my life anyway, to my battles with addiction. It's definitely a song that hurt to write as I had to deal with things that I don't always like to admit to myself. ”
Three years since his last solo release, “The Hangover”, Night Shield has been staying busy with side projects, having released his first group album, in conjunction with Flame On Entertainment, he joined V The Noble One, Danny Boy, Trey Lane & Maniac: The Siouxpernatural to create “Certified” and “From The Vault (2002-2013)” was released in compilation format and featured a host of unreleased songs and collaborations, one of which, “M.I.A.”, even won an Indian Summer Music Award for “Best Hip Hop”.
“Kataztrophik”, Night Shield's debut album was released in 2004 to much critical acclaim, he released his 2nd album, “Savage Display: The Total Package” in 2005, while “Loved & Hated” saw release in 2007, “Sex, Drunks & Hip Hop” hit in 2009 and “The Hangover” saw release in 2012. Night Shield has remained one of the most recognizable names in Native American music and his N.S.E. record label, which just celebrated it’s 15 year anniversary, remains strong with its stable of hip hop talent which also boasts Danny Boy, Philthy Fresh & Maniac: The Siouxpernatural. Maniac: The Siouxpernatural is scheduled to release his album, “Temple Of The Witch King”, this Spring and Night Shield will release the 2nd volume of his “From The Vault” series also in the Spring.
