This week in cultural appropriation.
Harry Styles from the pop group One Direction posed in a headdress and posted the picture to Instagram. Judging from the background of the photo it looks like he was in a boot store, so I'm assuming this headdress was probably part of a “Western” decor. He would have been better off if he had just left it on the shelf. Styles has since taken the picture down, but issued no apology. Even fans of his were upset, leading one popular fan site to comment:
cultural appropriation is not nice, regardless of context or intent. let's leave it at that.

A cheerleading squad from the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada posed in a Cowboys and Indians themed photo shoot, with the usual tacky stereotypes. Backlash on twitter lead to the picture to being removed from all social media outlets and the president of the university reported that the coach of the squad has apologized.
