I woke up to a -3 Fahrenheit temperature this morning in Chicago and believe me, that was a rough commute to school for my little guy. I can't imagine having to endure this cold weather without proper heating! Unfortunately there are those, especially across the Northern plains, that cannot afford to properly heat their homes and many end up suffering in silence or worse.
Luckily, there are people like Tiyospaye Ministries, a 501c (3) organization based in New Jersey, who are reaching out to make sure folks are taken care of. They have launched the “Warm the Rez” campaign to provide propane for people living on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud reservations in South Dakota. Their hope is to raise $20,000 for those who cannot afford to heat their homes this winter.
To donate visit the Warm the Rez campaign page at http://gofundme.com/warmtherez.
If you know of a person living on the Pine Ridge or Rosebud reservations that cannot afford and needs propane contact Tiyospaye Ministries at 609.975.9817 or by email at [email protected] Provide name, delivery address and contact information.
