June 1st, Gabriel Ayala posted to his Facebook page photos of him on the Diamondback baseball field at Chase Field in Phoenix AZ.
He was asked to sing the National Anthem and at the end flipped his guitar to raise awareness for MMIW.
“When I was done performing the National Anthem in front of over 40,000 people in attendance and televised across the US I stood in solidarity in support of the MMIW(Murdered Missing Indigenous Women) across turtle island.
I will prob not ever get asked to perform for the Diamondbacks again but my cultural values are more important to me than any thing else.
Please share this post w everyone!!!
NO MORE MMIW!!!!!

Hello, Gabriel!
I have worked on several Native American Reservations: Ft. Totten, ND., Hopi in Arizona, Apache in Whiteriver, AZ, and in Tuba City, AZ. On every one the number of abused, missing, and murdered women was shocking and heart-breaking. It is so encouraging to see someone willing to bring this tragedy to the attention of as many people as possible.
Thank You!!
Good for You Gabriel!!!
