First Major Native Comedy Series to Air on Fox?

Posted By Toyacoyah Brown October 24th, 2017 Last Updated on: October 24th, 2017

Interesting news out of Hollywood this month! Deadline reports that “Fox has given a script commitment plus penalty to Reservations, a single-camera comedy from Young & Hungry scribe Lucas Brown Eyes, David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith’s KatzSmith (It), and 20th Century Fox Television.”

Lucas Brown Eyes is an Oglala Lakota writer who was a part of the ABC Disney Writing Program, and has written for shows such as Young & Hungry and KC Undercover.

Quick synopsis of the show:

Created and written by Lucas Brown Eyes, Reservations is based on his real-life story. The comedy follows a Native American family that trades their impoverished reservation for Los Angeles, a move inspired by the dreams of a 14-year-old boy to live in Hollywood. But adjusting to life in this new world of Teslas and $10 lattes proves to be weirder and more complicated than this loud, proud and tight-knit family was expecting.

Fingers-crossed for this show! We'll update as more develops.

It’s about time Native Americans are portrayed in a positive and modern light.
Not like a Hollywood western that shows them as blood thirsty people.

We tried to launch a Native American Talent Agency and Modeling back in 2004. We had PLENTY of talent and great looking people. We peddled a script but NO ONE wanted to help us get it off the ground. We had models going out on photoshoots, plus plenty of raw talent. Our script was done by a Community Theatre Company, we got rave reviews. Now, even our former theatre was shut down. I am so glad someone finally saw the light!
