Chicago Has Always Been Indian Country

Posted By Toyacoyah Brown December 1st, 2014 Last Updated on: December 1st, 2014

I was born in Oklahoma, deep in the heart of Comanche territory, but I currently call Chicago my home. It can be pretty overwhelming when you first show up to Chicago, but I love the diversity and pace of it. It's also nice to know that you're not the only Native in town, and there's are local resources to turn to for education and community.

Recently the Chicago American Indian Community Collaborative (CAICC) created a video to talk about the original inhabitants of the area and the many native organizations that are here to help us all today.
