Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vermont) is working hard on the campaign trail for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
Recently Senator Sanders made a trip to Kansas to sway voters. Before taking the stage at the Douglas Country 4-H Fairgrounds, Sen. Sanders made time to talk with tribal leaders of the four federally recognized tribes of Kansas.
Sen. Sanders has also made visits with other Native American leaders & communities. On September 4, 2015, Bernie made spoke with the Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa.
“Native American people, perhaps more than any other people in our country, have always known the relationship and the importance of treating nature with respect – Bernie Sanders” (desmoinesregister)
On February 26, Sanders made a stop at Hibbing High School in Hibbing, Minnesota:
“prior to his introduction, Sanders took about 20 minutes for a sit-down with tribal leaders asking questions about issues of concern to Minnesota Ojibwe Tribal Nations” (nativenewsonline)
