You might remembering us sharing some videos last year of these amazing kids out of Wisconsin, Hay Creek Youth Drum Group. It was a popular post for sure and many people enjoyed their singing. Well they're still at it and their videos are getting tons of likes and views!
Check out this latest video shot by Nicholas Hanson, father of one of the boys in the group!
The group consists of Niizhoo Sullivan, Naawigiizhig (son of videographer), Aandeg Schlender, Manidoo-bineshinsag, Jingo-giizhig and Waaseshkang. All the kids are members of the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Tribe where they are proudly learning their language and attend Waadookodaading, the local Ojibwe Immersion school.
We're very impressed with these young men! I know you'll be seeing more of them on the pow wow trail for years to come.

Blown away over here in Alberta. This is the best. I love it!!!! Keep it up boys. You sound amazing. Move over Northern Cree, Blacklodge & all you “Old Singers” these boys are gonna take over….Please create a CD for all the young pow wow singers out there. You’re inspiring so many just like yourselves to get out there & show your pride. Huge big ups to the school that is teaching what all Anishinabe Schools everywhere should be teaching our talented youth to do. This is our roots! This is who we are & what we represent as First Nations People. It all starts with our young generation. What will we fill their hearts with?? A STRONG CULTURE!!! Reach back to where you come from, what you believe in & teach it to as many of our youth that you can because we all need this. I’m so proud of you all for your awesome talent. Keep singing, it only goes up from here…I want to hear more!!!!!
