Who says us Urban Natives can't throw down too? The 61st Annual Chicago Powwow was held this past September in the Busse Woods Forest Preserve in Elk Grove Village, IL. Photographer Clarissa Friday (Gee-Gway-Quah) was there to capture some beautiful portraits of the dancers in attendance.
Clarissa is a member of the Forest County Potawatomi in Wisconsin and has been traveling to pow wows with her family for many years now. Her love of photography started out as a hobby, taking pictures of her children who dance in the pow wows. I think she should try and turn it into a full-time gig!
You can check out more of her work at Native Clarity Photography on Facebook.
