My name is Jacob Pratt and I'm the Creative Director of Wambdi which is a Native performance and events company based in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Basically we like to consider ourselves a socially responsible company that represents Native people in the best way we can while also trying to give back to our community. We provide our clients with dance and music performances, as well as, a wide range of event services. We also have been growing our product line and selling them through our store. We have also been selling products for other people through consignment. Lastly but not least we are raising money to provide programming for youth through our sponsorship opportunities.
Yes we do a lot and we are only getting better from here. We try to keep our blog as up to date as possible and make regular announcements. In fact we are planning on a new video series that people might be interested in. Coming very soon.
Our team consists of a number of different performers all hand selected and with their own talents that make us good at what we do. Together we are Team Wambdi. We work together and have become very close over the years. These individuals are very dedicated and have proven to be amazing people to work with. The company is operated by myself, and Rebecca Sangwais our Branch Manager.
What we have done
We are working everyday to make things happen and always looking towards our next project. We have performed for Royalty, been on national television and even performed in New York City, however, some of our favorite events have been with Native Youth, like at our culture camps.
One of our most talked about performances was the 2013 Indspire Awards opening performance. We had sixteen dancers rockin the stage to A Tribe Called Red. The audience was so loud in fact that they had to turn our music up. It was a proud moment for us as Team Wambdi. Here is our favourite video of from the audience point of view!
This was really just a sneak peek into who we are and what we do. Feel free to contact us and join our Facebook and Twitter pages. Our goal is really to make a positive change in the world around us doing what we do best. Thank you for reading and we hope you “Come Fly with the Wambdi”
More blogs to come in the future!
