where are they?
You know, i've often thought about the percentages that are posted about Americans supporting the war & i've been completely shocked! The #'s are very high in support of war!
As some of you said, i don't know ANYONE (not that i know a whole lotta people but you know what i'm sayin) who's in support of the U.S. going to war w/Iraq........so where are all these people that are taking these polls in support of the Presidents decision??? & how did we get so sidetracked from the whole Sept. 11th tragedies & hunting for Osama?? I'm so mixed up w/all of this stuff going on & i live in the DC Area! YIKES! ~Buckskinz I will say this tho, my thoughts & prayers go out to all of those in the services who've been sent over, much respect!

While I vehemently disagree with what she said I don't agree with radio stations banning her music. That being said here are my thoughts.
If a radio station fears that they will loose advertisers they have a right to not play certian songs. That is a desisison that they have to make and just as we can't nor shouldn't stop the Dixie Chicks from say what they want we can't nor shouldn't stop the radio stations from doing what they want. Secondly the Dixie Chicks aren't being told they can't say anything against the president. At least not that I have heard. But they do have to accept the consiquences of what they say. That is the difference between having freedom of speech and not. In a country where you don't have freedom of speech you are imprisioned or killed for expressing your opinions. Just ask Saddam's brother-in-law who was jailed for refusing to vow his support of Saddam if you don't believe me. As far as supporting the war you can as me two different questions and recieve two seemingly different responses. If you ask me if I want our country to go to war I will respond "Hell no". However if you ask me if I think it is neccessary for us to go to war I will respond "Hell yes". Since I think it is imminate I am putting up my flags again. (I always have one up) The signs supporting our troops will go in my windows. Also you might note that now that our government is putting the stops on 12 years of political dialog you will start to see other countries starting to support us. Turkey just announced that they are going into emergancy session to allow us to use their country. And most of the surrounding countries of Iraq have also voiced their support. My prayer is that the war is short and that no innocent civilians are hurt. Most importantly I pray that all the American Soldiers come home safe.

I'm guessing that she is tired of touring and being famous and wants to break up. Why else would someone say something that would SURLEY PISS OFF their main fan base, hicks, who support America and everything it does, right or wrong.
I do think she was right to say that she is embarrassed to come from the same state as G.W. She should have said it months ago tho. Did you ever wonder if Bush would be this fast at war if he DIDNT own tons of stock in the Texas oil companies that get their oil from OVER THERE? Or is he just trying to be like dear old dad? |

i never liked bush and his ears. honestly people, he had been embarassing us from the time he nearly died over a pretzel. i never liked him cause my dad would always get into a fit over somthing like the kickapoo tribe in texas wanted a casino but bush never did crap about it.(when bush was the givenor of texas) then my dad would get started on how he ignores natives. but when bush went into the big office he had to give up his prejudice ways.
i agree with the dixie chicks on that. not really on anything else though. other people in the media do it all the time. they use the whole 1st ammendment thing and get awat with it. so what's the difference here?

Heated debates are fine, but if you are going to start using cute "alternative" methods to spell out foul language then I'll just start editing your posts. Ba-dump-pum.
Keep in clean, folks. Don't come crying to me about censorship, grow up. This is not Jr. High anymore. |

It was a warning. Freedom comes with responsibility. There are elders and children reading this. If you have no respect for them, thenI have no respect for you - online or in person. If you respect them, grow up and act like it.
Cry me a river. |

I don't think they should be banned and she had a right to voice her own opinion...dang there were white supremecists on my state capitol steps holding a rally a few years back and they argued freedom of speech just to be there! Didn't hear of nobody calling them unpatriotic or terrorists at the time! I still like the Dixie Chicks' music all yall that haven't heard bout them where ya been? They got a Grammy this year....probly the fact that they're a country group though is why! Anyways no use gettin bent about it and making your blood pressure rise...cuz we ARE going to war...it don't matter what the lil people think if they are for or against it...just like our votes didn't matter in the last election...LOL

Exactly, couldn't have said better myself. Unfortuntely war is part of freedom, and the move towards a war right now is just an example of that resposibility. Exactly why the ban of the Dixie Chicks is going on now. Disrespect. Cry me a river? Huh?
Edit, yes edit them, part of your resposibilities, step up to 'em. And by the way there was a better way to get point across don't have to go out on a power trip and be asinine, better return to jr. high and take a course in sensitivity. Fool. |
