I'm home in Michigan right now with my family so I been gettin alotta support from them which has been great. So if you could that would be really nice!

you know what, stay busy, occupy yourself with anything....find a job, throw yourself into your kids (if you have any).......don't think too much about it.....don't pay attention to the news, that is the most depressing thing you can do.....email him every day.....write him letters, send beef jerky and hot sauce (tapatio).....just remain occupied and supportive....theres gonna be a lot of idiots out there whos gonna say stuff about the war and the troops that will piss you off, don't listen to them...most of them are just talking to hear themselves talk, they know nothgin of what it's like there.....and most of all, know that you have a part of the Marine Corps family here with you.....keep your head up!!!!

Write often and everyday You will not believe how much that matters to someone that is deployed And dont worry if they are not exciting and flowing of love Write journals about your day what your doing where you ate Whats on TV Anything and everything But DONT watch the NEWS Its full of crap anyway and will only make you anxious worry Find a Hobby Work Keep busy And before you know it he will be home!

Thanks ya'll. This has really helped me. I can tell ya one thing since my husband has left I haven't been able to watch the news about having to do with the war. I have been keeping myself busy also, I sell avon from home and I watch my cousin's toddler durin the middle of the week. It has helped keep my mind occuppied. I do know about the idiots though, there has already been 3 people talk s*** to me about the war and my husband. Sometimes it just gets hard on me and specially him because were both in our 20s, but we are managing.

I grew up in the Army. My step-dad was in the first Gulf War. I spent 6 years in the Air Force. So I know how it is on both sides of the coin. I sat up with my mom nights when she was worried. And I spent extended periods of time away from family and loved ones.
I have to agree with everyone else, write letters, email, send care packages, etc. When a buddy of mine was over there last year I sent him books, magazines, movies, goodies as often as I could. I used to collect magazines from co-workers, neighbors to send. It doesn't matter what they are, something to read helps keep the mind occupied when you get some down time.

I was an army brat too, born in the Military. You are not alone here. There are many who support you and yours. They are right and there are many idiots out there who will try to tell you all kinds of things. Just walk away--they aren't worth the time it would take to pass gas.
Having a little one in your life, wether yours or someone else's is a very important thing. It will remind you exactly what you and he have done and for why, now matter what anyone else tries to tell you. My prayers are with you and yours. |

Navy brat here, both dad and brother, Army mom and mother in law. I agree, do NOT watch the news it will just tick you off. Do send things to read, daily letters, pictures ( of you, family members, pets and places that you like to go to together, ect.. One of my cousins used to talk about a picture our Mammaw sent him of his younger brothers being chased by our great aunts geese, and another of her cat stuck in the tree.( she told him that since he was not home, looked like the cat was going to be there for awhile.) He still laughs and said those pics had him and his buddy's laughing. Making them laugh is good for them over there. My dad used to clip out my brothers favorite comic strip out of the paper and send them to him each week.
Keep the letters up beat and know that we are praying for all of you.

I'm sorry about that. Some times some of the people that we think are closet to us are the hardest on us. I just went through something with my own sister this weekend and I wound up letting her know exactly what I will do if it happens again.
My son was here tonight and his best friend, they have been friends since they were 4 years old and the young man lived two doors down from us while he was growing up and I used to babysit him sometimes for his mother, is in town for about a week. Then he goes back to CA and from there in 3 weeks he is being deployed to Iraq. I'm worried about this young man, but no differently then I am about everyone who's over there right now. I just know him personally and I know of two others who are in the Navy and a few others. I just pray for everyone's safe return home. |

Ndnsoldierboy is right. Please join the military wives group on base for support. They are a group and really do know what your going through, unlike civilian friends. You can also e-mail me if you need a shoulder to lean on. I'll be happy to help if you need someone.
