Small pox
Hey guys, I just got my vaccinations today. I got the anthrax, typhloid, and small pox. the anthrax and typhloid were on one arm and small pox on the other. The worst one was the typhloid, after getting that one i had to sit for a moment cause i started sweating and was short of breath and my arm started hurtin like a mo fo. I was given all these directions on how to take care of the area that the small pox was given but it was right after i got the typhloid. Have you guys found a better and easier way of taking care of what will later look like an infested area? I was just given some 2x2 gauze and some tape to cover it up.

yeah - typhoid was the rotten one for me too. I tried to go straight back to work after mine. I ended up going straight home. Felt like a weird drug to me.
I didn't serve in the military but did do medical service and we got a full round of "in case of" shots. Back in that day, kids all had small pox vaccinations and boosters so I didn't have to do that with the rest of the "in case of's". Interestingly enough neither mine, my littlest brother nor my father's (the navy did his when he enlisted at the end of WW2) small pox vaccinations ever "took" (ie made a scabby spot). We have a natural immunity against small pox according to the medicos. I guess it's our legacy from my Great Gramma Lucy who survived the Cedar River Incident (an intentional exposure of an entire winter camp by whites to the pox). My point - you may or may not have a reaction. I have seen the reaction - looks like a blister that subsides into a scab a little smaller than a dime. Don't scratch or pick at it. The scab falls off after a few days leaving a slight scarring behind. A little Triple A on the gauze pad is good if the scab/blister tries to "grab on" to the dressing.

I had a problem with my 2nd. small pox shot when I was going to Central America and my doctor gave me a clear bubble and told me to keep the area clean with alcohol and keep the bubble on it at all times. Hope this helps.

well after i got it done they told me to keep the area dry. even after i go to the gym they told me to change the gauze so that i could have a dry one on. the one where i got the typhloid on feels like someone puched the heck outta it. i hope i will still be able to do my normal activities which a part of it include carrying my heavy big girl in and out of the car every morning to take her to the sitter. i hope i just don't do anything to contaminate things at the house cause i'm so afraid of my daughter and b/f gettin it. man and i stubbed my little toe and the one next to it last night and it hurts like a whole lot. it took me 3 minutes to put my boot on, i sweated and took a whole bunch of deep breaths to put it on and my heart was poundin so hard. now i'm walkin funny lol

Had the small pox and it was on my arm mebbe 3 weeks? But the other Soldiers in my unit had the mark on their arm for over a month and longer...They had to go see the medics again....this was in Afghanistan.
Tyhoid didn't bother me. Anthrax, messed me up some back in '91.

Were you fine w/ just coverin it up with the gauze or did u take an extra precaution? I'm just worried about spreadin it at home. Typhloid man that one is killing my arm. I couldn't sleep good last night cause of it. Well that and then I jammed my little toe and the toe next to it the other day and it's horribly painful to do anything. Anthrax, i don't know but i'm feelin a bit funny. Not really all myself yesterday and today. How did u not feel good?

My lil' sis was given shots when she enlisted. After the shots were given, she gently rubber the area with her fingers. She had a little pain, but that was gone by days end. No swelling or itching.
