Request for Information on Kandahar

Wondered if you guys knew anything about this region in Afghanistan? Know anyone who is deployed there?

I would like to know where I could send one of those boxes full of "comfort" foods to our boys/girls over there as well does anyone know if our Canada participates in something like that?

Kandahar is hot....was there in 2003-04.

Hey NDNSoldierboy Thanks for the response. I can't imagine how hot it must be over there. I don't know how you guys do it..

The temps was around 120+ in the summer....

And dust storms....one dust storm we had back in '03 was over a month long...it was in the winter...which was cold...around 20 degrees in the day. In the mountains it was even colder....

Kandahar the city wasn't much too look at...remember going thru the city on a vehicle patrol and there was lots of Afghans on the roof tops looking down on us with AK's and RPG's...they didn't point them at us, cause if they did, our ROE, Rules of Engagement would go into effect and we would shoot them. Traffic was horrendous...No traffic lights, no Police to direct traffic, all kinds of run down cars, jingle trucks, and then you had the rich Afghans driving the new Range Rovers, BMW's, Toyota Hilux's, little motorcycles, bikes,
peeps walking...Remember not seeing many women out, but they were covered in the blue burqua's if you did see a woman... kids everywhere...

Hey thanks, man! It's interstering to hear what its like over there, only having access to the news and blogs, its hard to get a handle on the situation.

I thought of you today when I saw that the last king had died and I wondered if/how that would affect the situation over there.

Yeah, I have heard about those camels! Got a funny story from one guy who was over there about a camel and case of mistaken identity. Can't say anymore in the boards about it, but maybe I can PM you the story if you are interested.
