thats a good story...Thanks
I saw Beirut in 83...hence my nic...peacekeeper83... I saw the people who had their lives controlled by the few armed militias. I saw the children and the elderly who were thankful we were there...majority of the people there only want to live in peace...its a few extremists who make the conditions bad for everyone...

Thanks. I served 85'-93'. Husband also served. I understood why he had to go overseas, I was not stationed with him. Some things are quiet and more hard to understand. I am still in reserve. Leandra

That was a wonderful story. I have a new outlook on what is going on in the Middle East.

Thank You 50 Cal. My husband served and I was proud of him for standing up for humanity. I never questioned why he went but waited patiently for his return and so did our son. He understood what his dad went for. That story made me cry. Thank you again.

This was posted before I came across this website - and I'm glad you bumped it back up where I could see it. We've been very careful to teach our children to honor and respect our soldiers and to understand why sometimes we have to go to war to prevent worse things from happening.
There's a group of people who stand out and protest at a downtown park here every Sunday - they've done it for months. They have signs up telling how many of our soliders have died in Afghanistan and Iraq and how many civilians they claim we've killed. They have signs calling for our President to step down and calling him a liar - saying we're in the war for oil and greed alone. Maybe if they could take a look at this situation from the perspective in which you presented it to your son, they'd see the truth of the situation - not what the liberal media wants us to believe. Maybe they'd realize that if it weren't for the freedom we enjoy in this country they wouldn't be standing up on the street corner like they do. Thanks for sharing this with us and reminding us that if it weren't for folks like you people willing to lay their lives on the line for their country we wouldn't have the freedom and measure of security we enjoy today.

Thanks...but one thing, it was from a perspective that was brought to me from a go |

This passage was extreme but that what we need sometimes. I appreciate what the words had to say very much! Thank you!
