For good and ill, the Iraqi prisoner abuse mess will remain an issue On the one hand, right thinking Americans will abhor the stupidity of the actions while on the other hand, political glee will take control and fashion this minor event into some modern day My Lai massacre.

I heard some Arabs are asking for an apology. I humbly offer mine here:

I am sorry that the last seven times we Americans took up arms and sacrificed the blood of our youth, it was in the defense of Muslims (Bosnia, Kosovo, Gulf War 1, Kuwait, etc.).

I am sorry that no such call for an apology upon the extremists came after
9/11. I am sorry that all of the murderers on 9/11 were Arabs.

I am sorry that Arabs have to live in squalor under savage dictatorships.
I am sorry that their leaders squander their wealth. I am sorry that their governments breed hate for the US in their religious schools.

I am sorry that Yasir Arafat was kicked out of every Arab country and high jacked the Palestinian "cause". I am sorry that no other Arab country will take in or offer more than a token amount of financial help to those same Palestinians.

I am sorry that the USA has to step in and be the biggest financial supporter of poverty stricken Arabs while the insanely wealthy Arabs blame the USA.

I am sorry that our own left wing elite and our media can't understand any of this. I am sorry the United Nations scammed the poor people of Iraq out of the "food for oil" money so they could get rich while the common folk suffered.

I am sorry that some Arab governments pay the families of homicide bombers upon their death. I am sorry that those same bombers are seeking 72 virgins? I can't seem to find one here on Earth.

I am sorry that the homicide bombers think babies are a legitimate target.

I am sorry that our troops died to free more Arabs. I am sorry they stopped the gang rape rooms and the filling of mass graves of dissidents.

I am sorry they show so much restraint when their brothers in arms are killed. I am sorry that Muslim extremists have killed more Arabs than any other group.

I am sorry that foreign trained terrorists are trying to seize control of Iraq and return it to a terrorist state. I am sorry we don't drop a few dozen Daisy cutters on Fallujah.

I am sorry every time terrorists hide they find a convenient "Holy Site".
I am sorry they didn't apologize for driving a jet into the World Trade Center that collapsed and severely damaged Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church - one of our Holy Sites.

I am sorry they didn't apologize for flight 93 and 175, the USS Cole, the embassy bombings, etc.

I am sorry Michael Moore is American; he could feed a medium sized village in Africa.

I am sorry the French are french?

America will get past this latest absurdity. We will punish those responsible because that is what we do. We hang out our dirty laundry for all the world to see. We move on. That's one of the reasons we are hated so much. We don't hide this stuff like all those Arab countries that are now demanding an apology.

Deep down inside, when most Americans saw this reported in the news, we were like - so what? We lost hundreds and made fun of a few prisoners.

Sure, it was wrong, sure, it dramatically hurts our cause, but until captured we were trying to kill these same prisoners. Now we're supposed to wring our hands because a few were humiliated? Our compassion is tempered with the vivid memories of our own people killed, mutilated and burnt amongst a joyous crowd of celebrating Fallujans.

If you want an apology from this American, you're going to have a long wait. You have a better chance of finding those 72 virgins.

Its really sad that about a hundred years or so, We were the arabs. They were saying all of this garbage about us. Even today, we get accused of taking government money and our rich Indians keep getting richer while our poor live in squalid conditions. I am not saying that what is going on in other countries is right but the government is still trying to get rid of us "Savages" and like Malcolm X said "By any means necessary".

extermination of any ethnic people has always been in the fore front of any government. We are considered the silent and weak, but then when we do actually stand up for our rights, our traditions our religious beliefs and what is rightfully OUR country.. we are labbled trouble makers and terrorists...
I too do not agree what happened with 9/11, it was unecessary, but we must look at WHY it happened and WHY the Arabs are so PISSED off at the North Americans.. They find us VAIN, they find us immoral, and we go against, we consume ourselves with riches and get them in whatever method they can get them.

I just wish that the world could be that of one that helps any nation kindred or tongue. We all may be different in skin, looks and values BUT a few things remain the same...
we all cry we all hurt we all bleed why? Because we are ALL human beings... But i guess only in a perfect world will there ever be total peace, and that time will never come, Human beings will inevitably kill ourselves off due to our own greed and our own close mindedness.

Just My own Opinion... i dont agree with violence whatsoever, i do not applaude those that people that were involved in the 911 events BUT i also do not agree with classifying every ethnic group into 1. Ethnic profiling just adds to the chaos it doesnt fix anything, and its gonna make more groups afraid which will lead to anger therefore more killing. Its a cycle and one that unfortunately will not end until people can understand difference and tolerance for one another.

It is an atroscity what happened on 9/11- I remember that day unlike any other- I was half awake when my soon to be ex-husband came in to tell me that they "bombed" the world trade center- I just looked at him like he was crazy and said- "Babe- that was years ago"- but he dragged me out of bed to see one of the towers billowing w/ smoke- 2 seconds later the second plane hit- and it felt like the plane took out my knees- for some reason I remembered a picture of Bin-Laden on the front page of the N.Y. Post with some threat he had made- I never did read the article. He left for work, and I stared at the tv forever- then my mother called crying- she asked me what was going on - that she didn't understand- so I took what I needed to go to work for 3 o'clock and went to her house to comfort her. I went to work later on that day- and I couldn't concentrate. I couldn't imagine who could think to do something so horrific. What about those people on the floors of the WTC when those planes hit? They had no time to think of anything I was thinking-and the brave souls who jumped to their death instead of burning alive- What about them? I was angry for a long time- but in the months to come - I researched. I wanted to know why this man did these things. And I by no means condone this act but one day- I finally understood. Not necessarily our people are responsible- It is our so called "democratic government". First of all this country is built on imperialism- foreigners came here and claimed a land that was already inhabited by a people. They forced their culture, religion, and way of life on these people- and if they did not comply, they were to face consequences- imprisonment- death. I see that not much has changed. Our country is rich and influential- We have military outposts in damn near every nation. We are constantly sticking our nose where it doesn't belong.Our mediadoes not report the full story- the history of why this took place.Before this years prez. election- I was able to find the full english transcript of the tape Bin Laden released explaining why he had done what he had done. I just tried to find it and its like it never existed.I always wondered why the press would release that he had sent out a tape but never told you exactly what he said. In the tape- he tells of when he was younger- and witnessed the destruction of a community- "thier towers reduced to ruins, at the hands of the Americans"- He did not blame our people- but our government for the decision they made. I am a proud American- I do not believe in what our government thinks we should believe in- I believe our soldiers should come home- and not fight a war that is un-winnable. These people have been this way forever- and to try and change them is preposterous. Imagine if someone invaded your home and told you that you could no longer do what you have been doing your whole life- I know that I would fight to the death- mine or theirs- to defend what I believe in. I always believed that America was loved by all until I was given a class In USMC bootcamp about terrorism and vigilance. They told us to blend in w/ the culture because in some places if you were known to be American- you would become a target. I know the majority of our people just want to help those that need to be helped- but you cannot help those that do not want to be helped. Our young men and women who have been sent off to fight are doing so because they believe it is the right thing to do for our freedom- But this whole thing started because of a whole other conflict in a different country- our own- and the man responsible is no longer an "issue" with our elected? president- I do not want to lose any more of our brethren- This whole thing is so complicated-I just hope I did not offend anybody- peace be with all of our heroes, good night and bless.

Resa and Angelfeather, if you want to know more about why some, yes I said some not all, arabs hate Western Society, and not just our government alone, read the book Everlasting Hatred.....the roots of jihad.....maybe you'll get a little insight of what really goes on, and why this small majority of muslims continue the way they do. And not all arabs are bad, it's just the 10%.....you read the book and actually interact with the people then I'm sure you'll figure it out, till then I'm sorry I helped the village of iskandiriyah and al-kut last year......just thought you might have wanted a little more than what you had before my unit came to your town........and resa, un-winnable???? Yeah sure, till you stick your nose to the grind, why not have a little more compassion for those that are there right now? After we all come home, then you and all others can chop our legs from under us, thanks for the support......

50-I don't doubt that you helped these people-I just don't think any of us should be there. I know it was not your decision to go- I support you guys everyday when I donate money- everyday -to send goods over there that hopefully help yall out. I just don't believe that these people will ever change- even if it's only 10%- these people raise their children to hate us- the hate is actually being multiplied.I ain't knockin you guys for the job you're doing- but you shouldn't even be there. I'm sick to my stomach every time I pick up a paper and a few more dozen of our people are erased. There was a N.Y. Post front page w/ the headline "12 Marines dead" to some people its just twelve people died- to me its "Twelve United States Marines"- gone. Our people ain't gonna 'chop your legs from underneath you' as you put it- there will be celebrations and rejoicing when you return. I'm sorry you misunderstood my confusion and anger on this subject as disrespect for our soldiers- it was nothing like that- I knew I would offend someone-My pops always told me not to discuss religion- politics or war- the discussion would last a lifetime...
