Well at 1630 today I raised my right hand and swore (with the option to affirm) my oath to the God/Creator/Omnipresent Being of my choice.

The oathing was anti-climatic. I was hurried, sort of, because my recruiter told me to be down at the reserve center in about an hour, so I had to rush home to S***, Shower, and Shave for the last time as a civilian for 8 years (actually 7 years and 364 days- not including leap year).

So four months and nearly 40lbs later I'm a Corpsman in the USNR- for the next 8 years of my life.

Because I'm too lazy to check up on my other threads, I want to reiterate for those who maybe interested in APG (Advanced Pay Grade) program. Non-Prior Service individuals cannot be deployed until they have completed 84days of being in the Navy. Going one weekend a month and two weeks a year, that takes roughly two and a half years. If there are ways to speed that process up, I don't know of them. So do not worry about being shipped off moments after saying "So Help Me God".

If there is anyone interested in the military- or Coast Guard, active or reserve. I encourage you to do your research, ask recruiters and other active duty or reserve servicemen(women), then seek out a recruiter.

Wow! you are just starting yours, I'm ending mine, 7 years later! If anyone would like to do research, you could ask me. The military isn't for everyone though. The best outcome of joining was seeing all the exotic places all over the world. I don't regret that. I've made so many friends, but I'm returning back to the rez, see what I can do for my community. Keep us up to date where you are stationed at. Take care and always stand tall and vigilant on your feet. Don't let people punk you. I grew up among peaceful Indian people and I had a culture shock, especially SoCal, people can be rude. Speak your mind and gain respect. That's the least advice I can give you.
