Soldiers in Iraq
I have a question. What do soldiers think of being overseas in Iraq?
I have friends that hate it there and want to come home. Michael Moore shows quite a few soldiers that hate being there and want to come home and they feel it is useless for them to be there. I have a friend who has a son in Iraq. All he says is how the troops are loving it there and that they all feel they are making a big difference there. Any thoughts? |

The majority feel that way, about making a difference but I don't know about loving it there. I didn't mind being there, but the part I didn't like was when we had nothing that they have now. We had no access to the internet or fast food places or any of those things. We considered them a luxury and we never had it. About how they feel about being overseas, they knew they were going to go sooner or later. If you dont get deployed anywhere, then good for you, you're one of the few "lucky" ones. Rather being at home instead of being deployed is a given. Who wouldn't raher be home? I served in both Afghanistan and Iraq, and many other different countries. My unit was also sent to East Timor amid a civil war there to provide humanitarian relief. And I admit, there were times when I wanted to be home. But like I was taught, I sucked it up and made the best of it. I had cousins and best friends there and still do to this day. My cousin is with 3/1, weapons company in Abu Ghraib prison, teaching and living with the Iraqi National Guard. Something else you prolly won't see in the news. My best friends and family are in Camps Taqqadum, Ramadi, Fallujah and Al Qaim, most in the Al-Anbar province. Yeah they would rather be home, but they tell me if not now then when? If we don't do it, we're just going to come back here again later on and do it all over again. But they make the best of it and move on. They also tell me if they something should happen to them, at least it was worth it to them. To each of them as individuals, they all have a different reason for being there, but in the end it all boils down to one thing, commitment to one another. Which is why they go where no other man would go.
As for Michael Moore, he has his own views and it's not that hard to find someone and ask them if they want to come home. I suggest you should really ask around before believing this guy about anything. My opinion.

having soldiers in Iraq has hit close to my home. There was a soldier named Yahdir Reynoso that was killed recently and today his body comes home. He was from Wapato, Washington and his services start this afternoon at a church there in Wapato. Yeah he was non native but he was a soldier. His funeral will be on Saturday afternoon. May he rest in peace~ My heart goes out to his family. Nye
