Crazy memories...............port calls.

Wanted to start a thread on the best places you've been to? the wildest stunts you pulled (for all the Marines)? Most memorable moments? Scariest times? I bet there's times you don't remember at all? ha,ha,ha.

Won't tell you everything, but I've been to Hawaii five times and I've never visited the Arizona memorial?? Not suppose to, but I've been to worse places like whitewater rafting in Indonesia and finding out the cremated bodies are spread into the water..............shucks. No going back on that one? Alcopulco, getting lost. Tijuana chased by Mexicans. Hawaii dancing on the streets drunk. Sydney (most friendly people on earth). Not discussing Thailand (you too 50Cal), Hong Kong, riding in a runaway cab! Singapore ended up in the middle of a mob war...........eeeeks, close one. Townsville, Australia riding horses on the beach and getting trashed at the Bank (Janet and Shorty) too much to share, but I'm sure you all have alot to share. I'm just fortunate to have that chance at having fun in my life. I've been to 10 different countries and I still have more years to go.

Well I guess I won't mention Thailand...LOL, anyways, I would have to say Bahrain, we held a 49 there when our ships pulled into port for liberty and got really crazy. Oh, I can't forget Guam, *sighs*, too many memories there to even mention. Singapore, got really drunk and ended up paying the taxi driver 50 bucks to get us back to the ship before liberty expired, man that guy was flying! We made it from chinatown province back to the ship in like 20 minutes! Thru traffic, pedestrians and across the island!! LOL Crazy times...Ummm....Oh I can't forget Norway....My sergeant and I met some people there who, a day later ended up getting arrested because of a robbery/homicide!! Crazy!!! Well I could put down a little more but most of it is just too carazy.......LOL *wipes tear from face as memories roll on by* *sniffles* LOL

I have to relay this about my uncle who passed away in the 80's; he was often the soldier that would get put in charge of commandeering things such as pallets of beer, in the Vietnam War.

Sorry to hear about your uncle Wocuswoman....that's funny what he did, LOL, they still do some of that to this day......like in Iraq, one of my guys somehow, always managed to get a hold of Iraqi whiskey..LOL...really nasty stuff! But if you needed a pick me up, heck ya, that would pick you straight up...LOL

Well, I was Navy but I'll tell you the craziest thing I did.

I got on a bus full of Marines in Okinawa and asked everyone if they wanted to hear a good military joke. When everyone replied "Yes", I contiued with "United States Marine Corps". Got thrown off that bus pretty quick.

The Navy has taken me to almost everywhere no Indian would go. I still have alot more to see. But all the places I've been, I would recommend to anyone to go to Australia. I will be going there in December again, I'm looking forward to it. I wish one day I would see Vietnam, I heard they reopened their ports to the Navy since Vietnam War.

At least I can say that I've sailed all the way around. Went to the Persian Gulf leaving out of Norfolk on the AMERICA, Then again leaving out of San Diego on the MCCLUSKY. Sadly, I never went to Australia. But I would say the most memorable port for me was either Patia Beach, Thialand or Simbawang Terminal, Singapore. Our Tubine system broke down and had to stay in Singapore for two weeks waiting on parts and maintenance. Simbawang Terminal was like a resort for us. Nice Club, Nice Pool, Chinesse Food Deliver to the Ship for Duty Days, And a good nightlife downtown.

oh man, so jealous!!!! LOL.....the most exotic place for me was...........Udairi Range, Kuwait!!!!!! Nothing like soaking up 128 degree heat in full combat gear......LOL......ahhhhh, the sweet life................LOL
