I feel that it's an honor to serve in the military. For years, Native people have felt that it is a high honor to serve and fight for our country. For me, hearing the stories that my uncles used to tell about their time in the service made me want to join. So, I became a Marine and loved every minute of it.:guns: :flag:

It does my heart good to hear that our young people are still willing to serve. They still have a warriors heart.

Native people

I don want to step on any one feelings. Escuse me if I do.

I feel any Native man o woman should only fihgt in a war that you protect your own country. Your land. Not go to another country and battle others wars.

Warriors should prepare and remain on own home lands. Leafe the fight between the ones it start with.

But on the other hand wars and battle change in this era so go fight and serve and be strong people for everone.

Kia Ora. Thank You.

Let metry to put this lightly. Our men and women are brave as heck for going out there and risking their lives. Mad respect for that. BUUUUUT, I don't think the "man" is deserving of our manpower. We have enough battles to fight on OUR own land. In OUR own communities. The white man starts all these wars in other lands (including our own) and we are willing to help them invade other countries like they did our own? Eff that.

Remember: the white man is willing to fight you, but I'll be damned if he was willing to fight FOR you.

I roger that Jibby, however, I look at it this way. Yes, I am only a single person, but when I joined the military over 15 years ago, I didn't do it to help the 'man', I did it to help fight for the country I live in, to help protect me and mine. Yes in the long run, it's helping the man, I'll give you that, however I was doing it for pure selfish reasons. The $$$, the Training and the trips around the world. I spent 10 glorious years in the Navy, was in Desert Shield and Storm, part of the Korean Olympic Games crisis. I fought for ME, not anyone else.

I did it for Family Honor and Tradition. My family is almost 74% active or retired Military.
My Family line is Marines/Navy, my Grampa is a retired Colonel, my Uncle Buffy (Grampa's brother) is a retired SEAL. My one of my Great Aunts was a WASP during WWII. My Great Granddad was a Seabee, and two of my Aunties are Marine MPs. A lot of my Cousins (my Grampa's Siblings' children/grandchildren) are in the service some are Army, some are Navy, and the rest are Marines. Neither my Mom nor my Uncle joined up, so I felt it was up to me as the firstborn of the grandchildren (Grampa's bloodline) to follow in Grampa's footsteps. For me it's not so much about America or the president (who, by the way my Grampa says really is a complete Doot in person too), it's about Tradition and History stretching back through the ages.

You go Jibbz. Now you see why everyone likes you. You tell the truth. I served to protect OUR land. Being a Marine was one of the best things that ever happened to me.

Hi guyz, long time no hear huh? Well let me chime in wit my fiddy cents. Hate the WAR not the WARRIOR. There are alot of skins out there that like to give native vets sheeit for fightin for the "man" in the same Army that tried to destroy our peoples. Nine times out of ten it is always the younger generation. Wonder why that is?

11bangbang how you been bro! Howz tha Stan treatin ya?

El Speedo™, wassup daddy-o? How you livin?

See, my thang is, we have no basis for even going to these wars. Iraq, a threat? I think not. The Man has yet to provide us with conclusive evidence that Iraq had any intentions of blowing your a$$es into oblivion. Think about all your fellow soljas who died because of it. Not to mention all the innocent Iraqi people. AAAAANNNNDDDD The Man openly admits that the papers that sent yall to Iraq were forged. WHAT THA FUGG IS UP W/THAT?!?!

All I can say is that when it comes down to it, Tha Man won't give a damn about our sacrifices. If you were really trying to protect our land, you would do something about getting it back. What's the use fo protecting something that we have no say over?

I think generalizing by saying it's only the young people hatin' on soldiers is dead wrong, honey. My grandfater fought on the beaches of Normandy. In fact, he met his bro and cousin on the front lines. Funny how we were the ones sent in first. He risked his life, he gave up his Status rights to go, he walked 300 KM's from Geraldton to Thunder Bay, he lost his brother and what did he get when he got back? FUKK ALL! He was the one who told me all my life that fightin for Tha Man was just that, fightin for him, cuz you sure in the hell ain't fightin' for our land.

I ain't hatin', just statin'

Speedy and Jibby,

you two said it perfectly. Speedy your comment about Hate the war, not the Warrior, was IMHO dead on (no pun intended). Jibby what your Grandfather said, after sitting back and thinking on it, hit the nail right on the head.

I agree with you on going to a war against a people that showed no threat to us, I agree there were and are a lot of innocent lives lost. But I also have to look at the smiles from the faces of the children and the adults who are now no longer under the thumb of that dictator. Could we have done it differently? More and likely, hell, Im bettin we definately could have.

As for protecting a land we have no say over? but we do, we can vote, which, though unless people all say the same thing, isn't that strong, but it gives us the right, or attempt, to say what we want about who runs this country. Maybe we chose the wrong individual to run this country, maybe we didn't, but we sure as in hell can try to force those to make things right. I value my right to vote, and exercise it every chance I can. My one little vote may not say much, but it lets those that pay attention (unfortunately there aint many) know what Im thinking.

But before we can get the whole country back, we have to start at the state level and work up from there. Little by little we are working towards that.

Of course, this is my opinion.
