Blackbear: :JawDrop Amazing!!! Thanks again for putting this intro on the board. I think I need to try it. Beavers are great and this just makes me like them even more. :) Okay, i have to ask, how long did it take you. The finished product rocks this world.

in days...wow...not sure , when was the date on the first post? But in hours, I would have to say at least 40 altogether. Using all those 13 cuts and 15's took longer than I would have liked it too. This has to be the largest piece I have done using beads that small and it is 3 inches in diameter or close to that. And although fringe does'nt take alot of time...doing a daisy chain 18 inches or longer just seems to take forever LOL! Daisy chain was what I used for the neck strap...just a different color varient. I love daisy chain though..so delicate..makes really feminine bracelets and necklaces.

I just got a box of it yesterday and it is great stuff! I had been having problems with my bees wax fraying my Nymo, but this stuff is just incredible! I cant wait to try this stuff with some peyote work, it has got to be way better than having little "bee turds" every time you start a new thread!

OH that is the main reason I use it!!! none of those little wax build ups and it does'nt get on the beads and make them dull looking!! that little box will last you almost forever too..I have had mine for 5 years now and it is'nt even 1/8th used up yet!

Blackbear that is amazing, hahou!! I love that little beaver! This is exactly what I needed as I will be doing braidties for my little one hopefully in time for gatherings! Thank you thank you! I'm trying this method! How would you suggest someone apply this method to leggings? I was thinking the soft leather (really light) that is the moccasin and legging all in one? You know, you wrap the leg with the legging and tie it. So it makes a one piece... I believe they are 2 pieces, just sewn together. I could do a small applique like you did and just attach it to the legging, right? Holy jumpin' moses, blackbear, I think I've got it!! :D Hahou!! --- shawna
Plus, since I'm new to all of this, this is my email shawna@kwrr.org I would love to be able to email you if I have a question in the future? Could I do that????? Thanks!

a pro
Wow that was really great step by step instruction for a 40 hours of work. I am totally new to beading and still haven't drawn the courage to start after being frustrated with beading on my jacket a geometric design. This is how I would do itlay down a row of beads and then go back over the row every second bead but had a hard time keeping the row straight and flat ........how frustrating it is to unstitch a whole row and try again.....my friend said to try something smaller
What would you suggest I start with? Oh I know absolutely nothing about beads and needle sizes. I would like to make something that I can use for an outfit................maybe that would hav to be done after I practiced though. Also, how do you select a pattern. You are a great artist!!!!!

Thank you! I would start by checking out the archives...lots and lots of good information there...and if it leads to more questions then ask away!!! Also yes..start with something smaller..and use size 10 or 11 beads...with a size 11 or 12 needle and size B or D thread. I don't actually pick my patterns most of the time..I make them up.

my test piece
![]() ::hoping the above picture shows up:: I did this as a test piece, to learn how to bead, using different sized beads, filling in open areas in every which direction, seeing what worked, what didn't, trying to go around following the pattern of the wavy line in the middle, sequin work, etc., all in one. I don't think I messed up too bad! Anyway, it came out cute enough that I'm sure my 2 year old would like to wear it, I wanted to make it into a necklace for her. I made it on the pelon (hard felt) and cut it out carefully not cutting the stitching (after reading that it happens!)... I'm going to "wing" making a necklace part, I think from seeing it I can recreate it, but even with close-up pics, I can't figure out how to make the edging on it. Any advice? I'm a quick learner so if anyone could give me a quick how-to, I'll be all set... and VERY appreciative! Thanks in advance! |

Great Tutorial and a ?
Thank you so much Blackbear. This tutorial has really helped me, and I am inspired to try this out. One question. How do you keep the rows together. I am using #11 seed beads and the one needle back-stitch. The rows I am making seem to have a lot of space between them with some fabric showing. Is this to be expected given that the beads are slightly rounded, or is there a way to have less space between the rows.
Thanks!!! |

Great! Yeah, the muslin's moving all around as you're trying to get the beads down.... the pellon is PERFECT for this kind of work. They lay right down where you expect them to, once the needle's in. :)))

ive always used pelon I just love it, its cheap too and comes in different weights, I like the sturdier pelon. Look up some of my stuff in the galery its beaded on pelon. BUt not all like it to each their own I always say, and experience is always a key facter in how your work lays and looks
