Native Student Council

Since your in the youth forum, im going to assume a number of us are still in high school or some sort of post secondary institute....

I was just wondering if your school has a Native Student Council, any Aboriginal based programs, or Indian Specific Resources available to students...

If it does, how big is your school(ie Population) and what is the ethnic breakdown... (white vs. black. vs. Indian) and how many different tribes attend your school?

at my school.. we have a native culture club that meets like once a month, we should be meeting more than that i think. my schools population is like 1200 and something.. i dont kno the ethnic breakdown but students from all six nations attend the school along with some ojibwe students too

my high school, which is about 45 percent status indians, we have a native resource room, which is kinda like an outreach and post secondary resource center...we have one on one councilling group councilling and we have a "teacher" who runs the whole thing... we have alot of support from our schools principal and VP.....

anyways, in order for he aboriginals to have their say in things, we have our own student council with in the school... a secondary council to the main student council but we dont have quite as much say...or financial responsibility... how many other schools have programs or councils or clubs like that??
