Messed up Comp

When I start my Internet Browser, it sometimes..well a lot of the times now..says "Detecting proxy settings"..My MSN messenger hasn't been working for over a week now.
My Norton Systemworks program has FIVE viruses in quarantine..is there any way I can get rid of them..:(

upgrade your virus software dat files!

Re-scan your pc. You probably need to upgrade your IE w/new patches and stop downloading porn!!!

MSN is the devil.....

Other than that...my advice would be along the same lines. Download latest virus defs, find what files are infected, and get rid of em, then try a scandisk, defrag, and all that good stuff. The usual, if all else fails, get a big hammer, something in the sledge variety, and bash the tower

Well where would I be able to DL the latest virus defs?
My msn is working again..and I don't have the trouble with my browser anymore...
My comp runs the virus scanner every night and 8pm:p

Im not very familiar with systemworks, I use Norton 2003 myself... But in 2003, there is a program inside called "Live Update", you just run that at least once or twice a week, and you should be straight. That'll get all the good updates and such for ya. I dunno if Systemworks has this, but if not, I'd advise ya to grab a copy of just regular Norton Antivirus 2k3/2k4 (if its out).

If you don't wanna peal out the price for Norton 2k3, then I'd advise you to PM me for further assistance.

What operating system are you running?

If you have 98, ME, or 2000 you can run Norton 2001 with free updates forever pretty much.

When installing Norton Antivirus 2001, role your computers date to the year 2020, install Norton, reboot, then roll your date back to 2003, and voila! You will now have around 6300 days to get updates.

Just keep that bad boy updated and scan every now and then.

If you aren't tied down by a contract to MSN, try Wal-Mart Connect if you are using dial up. It is only $9.94 a month, and it is AOL's program, phone numbers, and user database with Wal-Marts name on it. It is by far the best ISP I have used.
