What to bring to a Pow Wow

OK, so now we have covered how to pick a Pow Wow, what to do with your kids, proper etiquette, so now how about what to bring to a Pow Wow. Share with the new folks those things you have learned along the way, probably the hard way, so they can have more fun!
I know one thing I ran short of twice before I learned, was $1 bills. By the time I put some in for the drum, and some favorite dancers, I was out!
Please share for both indoor and outdoor events! Let the knowledge sharing begin!

Good Sturdy Powwow Chair!!!
Folding kind and remember you will be lugging that thing up and down all over the place so keep it easy to carry and fold up

We bring a small cooler with our own drinks and water

Only bring what you and your partner can carry in one trip
LOL
Sometimes we bring a small folding table but not always because some are really crowded you cant do it

Lots of water, toilet paper, and a jacket or sweatshirt, sometimes you end up staying longer than you thought you would.

I always carry those little packs of handi wipes - I don't have any small kids but geez those are handy! Especially if one must utilise the porto-facilities!

We have what Jim refers to as the basket of tricks it's contents change from time to time but this is what is in it 90% of the time... it has a small sewing kit in it, sunscreen, small first aid kit, a ziplock baggie with some baby wipes, pony tail holders, bobby pins, sun glasses, some leather lacing, sinew and a needle, pen and paper, a pouch with some tobacco, some munchies and goodness knows what elese I throw in there....it's about the size of a small clothes basket.. I been known to throw my moccs, fan and shawl in there... and whatever Jimbo wants me to "Here babe, hold this"..

we take the basket, 2 folding chairs, a small ice chest with bottled water and gatoraide, and my small throw blanket, cause someone always needs something to sit on or lay a kiddo on....

and Jim says that the number one thing that you should take with you is a camera.....

New,

Never bring your wife/husband or boyfriend/girlfriend to a powwow - if you are there to snag.

I use my mother's old flight attendant rolling carry on. It's perfect because all the compartments are used for something different for regalia. The top rectangle outside pocket stores safety pins, combs, brushes and sunscreen. I also used keep extra leather lacing in case the strips on my mocs or belt break. Sinew and matches are good too. At one powwow held at a hotel, my breastplate hit the marble floor as I put it on and we were all frozen! Buckskin dancers in the stalls were freaking out, thinking the rolling beads were theirs. Still we managed to secure the strand back with my handy dandy lighter stored in my "powwow bag".

Also, once you get into the habit of going every weekend (man I miss that about California), be sure to check the contents of your bag every now and then. If not, you'll be out thinking you have something only to realize you ran out five dances ago and now you've left yourself hangin'.

I need one of those bags that you are talking about.... the basket gets heavier and heavier as the season rolls along.... and you are very right about checking it from time to time.... makes me think do I have the ace bandage back in there for Jim's roach.. and I got to put a lighter in there...
