Hello to all. I am 37 years old and just starting to learn about my Native American Heritage. I have an Apache and Shoshone Heritage. The question that I am seeking is I am wanting to start compiling regalia for me but I am a very large person. I am 6'2 and 350 lbs. I have found a few sites to purchase clothing and accessories but nothing is for my size. Where might I be able to go to find clothing my size?

I went to a PowWow in Hopkinsville Kentucky just a few weeks ago and had a blast. One of the tribal dancers was talking to me about going to powwows and joining the fun (not to compete though but just to dance during the inner tribal dance). I am wanting to gather all the clothing and things needed but I dont know where to go.

Can you please help me?

Hi Terry,

I'm a big guy too. I've always had to just get a pattern, modify for my size and make it myself or my wife or mom would make it. As you go to powwows, you should talk with folks who are dressed and ask around about who made their shirt (for example) and then my might collect a name or two of people who could maybe do some of the work for you if you're not handy with sewing or other craftwork. There is always someone out there who will be more than happy to help you out, although sometimes the price must be right
