Don't get me started on the prices either....if I knew it was going to be this expensive to acquire this attire I might not have chose this venture...but it's a calling...almost spiritual. I think I was chosen by a higher power to dress this way. Especially since it came to me in a dream.
If you think these types of mocs are expensive, wait until you start buying the pieces of cloth to cover your skinny legs! There are strong family names also. There is the 'Levi' and 'Docker' family just to name a couple!

Thanks to all those who have helped me along this road...all the great advice and suggestions have been a blessing. I asked around the moccasin trail and was told of a footwear shop that will give you "Two" pairs of shoes for the price of one...who might you ask would be willing to do this? Payless Shoes, I swear I was in footwear heaven...the worker had me trying all kinds of whiteman shoes on...she even offered me "socks"...so now I got 2 pairs of shoes and a six pack of socks so I'm well on my way now to completing my destiny.

You guys win the internet. You know who I'm talking about! ;)

*just a quick comment on the polka post made*
While the polka is a cultural dance, it is in no way spiritual and therefore lacks the same connotation. I'm still giggling over the fact that Native American dance was just compared to the polka. xD

Hi,

Thanks for the respect that you have for First Nation People. I've attended Pow-Wows and gatherings each year since 1991, I've never danced, yet. I just love the atmosphere, the people, the drum, and the traditional dress. It is very spiritual to me and I love Spirit. I feel that what you are asking is very honorable. I agree with the people that say to learn all that you can and enjoy your time at the Pow-Wows first. From what I know, visitors are allowed to dance during inter-tribal songs. To me, marching in the grand entry without being invited is similar to breaking into someone's home.

Oh please do not forget the time honored names of Levis, L.L. Bean and Lands End. For surely you will disgrace the great white gods of shopping if you do not pay homage to them.

I do hear that there are "new family white traditons" of UGG and Areopastele (or however they spell it). this must be printed in strange language on the white man's children's body coverings. These items are aquired at great expense and offered to appease the young ones, not sure if it works but it seems to placate them for a short span of time.

Good luck on dressing like a white man... psst do you have a large supply of frog skins to gather this equipment from their shopping meccas????

I agree whole heartedly, a pow-wow is nothing more than a social gathering. Ill probably catch h*ll for saying that. Granted there are specials from time to time, time honored traditions as well, but still a social event. We have a dance called an intertribal after all, intertribal in the fact that anyone can dance. I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of you wearing an outfit, but that's not to say you can't get out there in your street clothes and get jiggy wit it. I'll be quiet now.
