Hidy
Hidy y'all. I'm Denise. I confess I am a mutt. Somewhere on my mother's father's side I inherited the Choctaw gene.
I thought I'd at least say hello since I just uploaded a few photos into the gallery's Art Gallery. It is the polite thing to do. I was looking for an art related forum in the forums list. I was crushed, there isn't one. I'm an art nut and can't seem to stay away from it. I wandered around in the General Crafts forum for a while. I'll have to read more in there when I have the time. Many thanks and it's nice to make your aquaintance. Denise |

Welcome Ima! I've asked some of my fellow moderators about how to go about getting something like an art forum. It seems to me that it might be something of general interest as well. We do have the photo gallery, but I think that you're looking for someplace to talk about art, and specifically NDN artists and artwork. We'll have to wait and see what steps need to be done to guage interest. Good Luck!

Hi Hobbs!
You have me pegged. Is it that obvious? Yes, I very much would like to find other artists, professional and amateur who also has a passion for Southwest and Native American art. There are wonderful artists in the Powwow Artwork Gallery. I had to look at every image. Many are very moving. I've met one of the artists (urbanskinz) online and found one of his pieces in the gallery To me this is "THE ART" that I have loved since my youth. It's what I brought into my airbrushing when I began that medium. I veered off due to having to produce what the customers wanted. Now in my old age and my kids are grown and gone it is what I would rather do with my time. I would like to find other artists to talk to with the same interest. I've painted at one Powwow which I enjoyed immensely but had trouble getting people to understand that I was there to produce southwest themed airbrush art. It turned out to be a semi-disaster. I had to put my foot down and flat out refuse to paint anything else. The highlight of the powwow was meeting David Eveningthunder and talking with him and other artists and arts vendors all weekend. I did a lot of reading last night in the forums and I know I don't fit in General Crafts even though it is full of information and comraderie. Unlike many of the people that have said hello in the Spectator forum, I do know my ancestry that I can trace back to the mid 1600's, with my grandfather and his family being from Durant Oklahoma and being on the Choctaw Rolls. I'm one of the lucky mutts. I look forward to seeing what happens with art and the mods. If not then I'm planning on painting at the next powwow at Traders Village here in Grand Prairie in September and maybe meet a few of you there. |
