I'm told I've got Yaqui lineage(a-pinch they say ?) but am
Mexican as well,99%...I know zip/nada about the Yaqui
tribe...any help out there ???, really would appreciate it.

I don't know a lot about the Yaqui, but I did some research on them for a relative. If you Google search "Yaqui Indians", you should be able to find a lot of what you are looking for. I know there are some sites that have history and tribal migration. Good luck.

Did you try doing some research on Google? As preciously suggested, just type in Yaqui+Indian.

I did, just for the heck of it and found the Pascua Yaqui Tribal website, which is a very credible website It has good information about the Yaqui tribe, including photographs and even a link to their radio station.

Just a suggestion.....to hell with google and all that crap...if you say you got a picnch and yer 99% mexican, chances are you are native. dont give into the hype of political labeling because mexicna people are First nations people who are indigenous of first nations.

Ask your parents where they from and ask grandparents where they came from. when they say i was born in yadda yadda u know what? then go there....learn and visit the people and interact. google is not goin to help you much.

In southern AZ you can visit the Yaqui communities and they have annual ceremonies, and some that i been too are very strict but u learn alot. Especially the Easter ceremonies.

No offense taken. You offer good suggestions and a valid course of action. The reason I suggested Google to Heavens is because she indicated that she knows NOTHING about the Yaqui. By accessing the Yaqui web site, she can at least learn a little history, tribal migration and the location of their reservation. It's a starting point, not a final destination. I hope she finds what she is looking for.

This is the same website that was mentioned earlier. There is a lot of good information on here and it should be a good start. There is a lot of useful information under the culture link as well.......but if you ever get the chance to speak to a Hiaki elder, that would be the best.
