You seem to have so much fun at your Powwow's..

Hi Sueanne! Welcome to this board - it's fun and a great chance to learn new things!

I just want to caution you though on your use of the word costumes - many people will find that term offensive as it implies playing dress up or pretending - as in Halloween costume. I think most people prefer to use the term dance clothes or regalia.

wow, are you in England or do you live elsewhere?...I think it's cool to find new members who are overseas...we have a few native military members posted overseas who frequent this website...but rarely do non-native members ever cop to living outside the us...(I'm thinking of several posts in years past that I think originate from Germany) LOL

Hey, I come from Germany. A few days ago, I travelled to the Netherlands to see the First Nations Dance Company. Fantastic, it was really worth it! Now I am learning more about Indian Native Americans, their history, their mythology, their traditions,... there's a lot to learn- as you know. And I am at the very beginning. My grand-grandmother was a Native from Gallup- and I will find out what tribe Maleelia came from. Yes, hopefully.
Everybody in this forum is very nice and polite. By the way, I just sent a private message to a member, and I told this person, that Indian people are very beautiful...people! But beauty comes aswell from the heart. German beauties are an exception, maybe British ones aswell? I don't know. Of course, you will have found out, that my translations to your language are sometimes freestyle and fantastic,...

Welcome to the site. It's a really great place to ask questions and learn more about pow wows and the native community in general. It's cool to know that there are people outside the U.S. who are interested in learning more about Native American Dance and culture. Hope you find all the info you're looking for.

Respectfully, welcome, but our stories are not myths.

We have physical evidence of our Creation stories... Do others?

Probably not.

For what it's worth, one of my grandpa's who raised me was from Germany-he spoke it fluently, but I have forgotten all of that now, practically, except things that are not appropriate to print here.

Anyway welcome and know that we're not picking on you! :) Just gotta make sure we are on the same page here...
