Da' Hammer
I'm out of the loop.
Are the singers of Yellow Hammer still together? Did they split up? It would be a shame if they did. I have seen their singers in the Red Rock Crossing and Bad Moon Rising drums. What's the story? Hmmmm?

There was a split, but won't go into details. Jade and some others have regrouped as Red Rock Crossing. ALL OTOES! Have heard a couple of songs my daughter (she's is one of the lady singers) sent from Kinder while they were singing and they are gonna tear up the circuit! They are awesome!!!!!!!!!

They sounded really good over the weekend.
I was wondering the same thing, Whome! Glad someone cleared it up. I know Yellowhammer was listed on the pow wow flyer for Kinder and I saw that they were on for the pow wow in Durant, too.

Check this out.
YouTube - Red Rock Crossing at Morongo 08 #2 YouTube - Red Rock Crossing YouTube - Red Rock Crossing - Final Drum in Contest at IICOT 2008 YouTube - Red Rock Crossing YouTube - Red Rock Crossing That's to start with.....I'm sure there's more out there on Youtube. I'm a loyal Yellowhammer fan, to the core. Jade owes his voice to James Kemble. Nuff said there. Still...it's nice to see new groups form, and standards go the way of memory. You want to remember your favorite groups at their peak, not when they're struggling....it pains you to see and hear that. Still....Yellowhammer shows up....everyone knows they're pretty much goin for second place in the drum contest. That's some pretty damned good fear to be able to strike into the other groups that are there to contest against them.......to know that they could put out and throw out their best, only to know that they're competing against the finest, the best, the baddest Southern Group to have graced the powwow world to date. ...only to come in second. Yellowhammer is perfection incarnate. FLAWLESS.... ....you have to go back to that old fact that's been stated more than once. Tested by many. Challenged by generations. Only to arrive at the one, undeniable truth. That Ponca's can, flat, out sing anyone. Comanche's, Kiowa's, Osage's, Pawnee's, ya'll come in second when it comes to singing in my book, no matter who you are, what family you come from, or how good you think you are, in comparison to Ponca's. Sad, but, true. Yellowhammer. James Kemble & Co. ...you've thrilled this indian, and shook him to his core more than once with your singing.......I've bought all your CD's/Tapes.....and lusted for more. Was saddened by the untimely passing of Perry Lee Botone and his fine, fine, fine talent for song making. Granted, I think the World of Ponca Singers, maybe it's wrong, but, dammit....they're eff'n GOOD! But, who can't sit and just marvel and stare off into space when you hear James Kemble open his mouth to sing, to hear his God given gift carry over the dance floor to move you. You can't tell me that Ponca's can't sing. God somehow blessed that people with a talent unrivaled and unmatched by any on Earth. Anyway.........enough arse kissing and stuff from this end. My best of luck to Red Rock Crossing Jade Robideaux & Co. Yellowhammer. If you're still out there, and holding it down. Give em hell in the arena, and let em know they're all still just vying for second. Lord knows, they're probably the only ones who haven't lost their minds and entered into that absurd stage where they've forgotten what it means to sing. Exchanging singing for screaming like Southern Boys, Young Bird, Thunderhill and their ilk have. ...and still having the nerve to call that screaming..... "singing". Boys. That ain't singing, it ain't "skyin"....it's trash, it sounds horrible. .......and the sad thing is, I bought your CD's too. LMAO!! Aho times Inifinity to the Ponca People!!

Jade owes GOD for his voice, not Jimmy. And as much as I love Jimmy K's leads and singing and Da Hammer as a drum group, there are many other singers that are not Ponca that were blessed as he is. To say ya'll come in second no matter who you are, what family you come from, or how good you think you are, in comparison to Ponca's is somewhat shortsighted. |
